Benzema, Ivan Toney, Osimhen, Zirkee- Arsenal’s hunt for a striker continues

Arsenal’s hunt for a striker continues. EPL side, Arsenal’s hunt for a striker is set to continue in the winter transfer window as the Gunners are being linked with more players each and every day. The Gunners have won just once in the last seven games in all competitions. And they have been beaten in the last 3 games altogether.

However, this has largely been due to their lack of using their goal scoring chances. In all the games they lost, Mikel Arteta’s side has the chance to take comfortable wins but their fired blanks in front of the goal.

It seems like Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah won’t be the Moses to lead the Gunners into the promised land. They will definitely need a Joshua and this is the perfect time to land one if they don’t want to end another promising yet trophy-less season.

The North London club has now been linked to several strikers. They include Real Madrid legend and France forward Karim Benzema. The 35 year old is currently playing for Saudi Pro League side, Al Ittihad.

However, reports have it that he is already fed up of being in Saudi Arabia and is looking for an exit. With Arteta and Edu not willing to spend on a big long-term signing, a short term contract for the five time Champions League winner would come in handy.

For Victor Osimhen, it seems unlikely that a deal can be struck in the January window. Ivan Toney has been the most linked striker to the Gunners but things don’t seem to be moving quickly as Arsenal supporters would wish to.

On the other hand, Dutch striker, Joshua Zirkee- is another name that has been thrown into the fold. The 22 year old striker plays for Serie A side, Bologna. In 2017, he earned plaudits for his goal scoring prowess.

Clubs such as Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal themselves scrambled for his signature. He however signed for Bayern Munich and played for the Bavarian side’s third division team for four years. Later he got to the first team but couldn’t usurp Robert Lewandowski.

In 2022, he made a permanent move to Bologna. He has now so far netted 7 goals in 19 appearances for Thiago Motta’s side in the league. Arsenal’s hunt for a striker continue.
