Arsenal replace academy graduate with Jurrien Timber in UCL squad

Jurrien Timber will be eligible to play in the Champions League if Arsenal is still in the competition when he fully recovers. The Dutchman’s name was included to an updated squad list that was sent to Uefa this week.

The Netherlands international, who had ACL surgery in August, hasn’t played any football and is most likely going to miss the forthcoming last-16 match against Porto, which is scheduled for February 21 and March 12.

We wouldn’t put money on it, but there’s a remote chance he could participate in the April quarterfinals if all goes according to plan in the upcoming weeks.

Timber, who was left off of the September group stage roster, joins Lino Sousa on the A-List following the latter’s transfer to Aston Villa at the conclusion of the window for transfers.

The winger Marquinhos has not made the cut even after being called back from his loan with Nantes. He is expected to sign with Fluminense for the second half of the season while he is abroad representing Brazil at the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament.

Rumor has it that they will have the option to purchase the 20-year-old, thus this may be his final season wearing Arsenal uniforms.
