NEC’s Gaddafi Wahab summoned in South Sudan squad

Gadafi Wahab, a midfielder for NEC FC, has been picked by South Sudan to their provisional roster for the AFCON Qualifiers later this month against São Tome & Principe.
Wahab is the most recent player to be recruited by the Bright Stars of South Sudan; he was born in Uganda.

Since entering the scene in 2016, the former midfielder for Onduparaka and Arua Hill has established himself as one of the Uganda Premier League’s most reliable offensive midfielders.

South Sudan looked for a chance to profit from Wahab’s failure to get entry into the Uganda Cranes setup.

In addition, Wahab’s NEC FC teammates Joseph Dhata Lujang and Atendele Geriga, as well as well-known South Sudanese internationals Richard Anyama (UPDF FC) and Emmanuel Peter Loki (KCCA), make up the squad of four additional UPL players.

Among the other well-known names in the provisional roster are Ivan Wani of Kator FC in South Sudan, Rashid Toha and Tito Okello of Kenya Police FC, and William Gama, a former Onduparaka midfielder who is currently with Malakia FC.

In the first leg of the AFCON Qualifiers preliminary round, South Sudan will go to São Tome and Principe on March 20. Then, on March 26, they will play each other in the return leg.The South Sudan national team’s new head coach is Nicholas Dupuis, a Frenchman and former coach of Madagascar.
