Former Vipers SC players Frank Tumwesigye, well known as Zaga, and Bashir Asiku are expected to sign with the Wakiso Giants.
Vipers announced both players’ releases at the beginning of this month.
This website is aware that the players and the Purple Sharks have already reached an agreement on conditions.
Zaga, a St. Mary’s Kitende graduate, has previously played for Police FC. In January 2022, he signed a three-year contract to rejoin Vipers.
Having won the league in 2019–20, 2021/22, and 2022–23, he departed the Kitende-based team as a three-time winner.
Asiku Bashir graduated from St. Mary’s Secondary School, which serves as the feeder team for the Vipers senior team. At Vipers, he took home two Uganda Cup trophies and three league titles.
Both athletes have made appearances for the Uganda U20 national squad. Wakiso had 36 points at the end of the previous season, placing them eighth in the Uganda Premier League.
