Thomas Partey To Miss AFCON As He Remains With Arsenal

Thomas Partey To Miss AFCON As He Remains With Arsenal. Arsenal’s Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey won’t be part of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations squad as he was left out.

The 30 year old was left out of the Black Stars’final squad for the tournament. Apparently, Partey is just recovering from an injury that has kept him sidelined for several months.

The former Atletico Madrid footballer last appeared for Arsenal in October in the 1-0 win against Manchester City at the Emirates stadium. With the Gunners performance dropping, his fitness will be crucial for them.

Currently, Arsenal have dropped to the fourth position five points adrift of the top place occupied by Liverpool. Mikel Arteta’s side has failed to win in their last three league games.

The players performances have dropped and they seem to lack an ingredient to drag them over the line. Luckily for Arteta, his injury list is reducing as most of his players are coming back to full fitness.

Besides the Gunners will without a doubt take part in the January transfer window. Their focus will predominantly be on a striker as both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have been firing blanks.

Rumor has it that the North London side is heavily linked to Brentford striker Ivan Toney. He’s just returning from suspension. Besides, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke are the other names mentioned.

On top of that, a holding midfielder also looks to be on the cards for Mikel Arteta. Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz has been the name in the mix. Arsenal will take a break from the league this weekend as they host Liverpool at the Emirates in the FA Cup third round.

Meanwhile the AFCON which will take place in Ivory Coast will begin on 13th January and end on 11th February. Thomas Partey To Miss AFCON As He Remains With Arsenal.
