Joyce Josephine Lalam wins Uganda the first Javelin medal

At the African Games in Accra, Ghana, Joyce Josephine Lalam became the first athlete from Uganda to win a medal in the javelin.
At the African Games in Ghana, Uganda’s third medal in athletics is won by Josephine Joyce Lalam.

Lalam won the bronze in the javelin throw with a throw of 57.01 meters on her third try.
Her throw of 57.01 meters also sets a new national record.

The Ugandan took home bronze at the 2018 Africa Senior Championships in Asaba, Nigeria, and placed fourth in Rabat in 2019.

Jo-ane Van Dyk, a South African, won the gold and silver medals in Van Schalkwyk Jana, finishing behind her.

Van Dyk beat fellow country woman Justine Robbeson’s 2007 mark with a championship record of 60.80 to win gold.
