KCCA FC triumphs over SC Villa in Kampala derby

SC Villa’s chances of winning the league this year were further dashed on Wednesday after they lost to rivals KCCA FC in a game held at Mandela National Stadium.

The Jogoos had a chance to narrow the deficit in the title run when Kitara and Vipers SC were unable to score all the points in their respective games.

On the same day that the renovated stadium debuted for pre-season play, Usama Arafat Kizza scored two goals in the second half to lead KCCA FC to victory.
Like in previous games, Villa was unable to take advantage of the scoring opportunities that were presented. In the first half, SC Villa’s finest chance came from Charles Lwanga, who was unable to get the ball past Joel Emojong, the goalie.

The game changed in the eighteenth minute when Herbert Achai’s cross was headed home by Usama.

A minute before the end of regular time, he scored his second goal of the day, slotting in a close-range effort that was a team goal.

As a result, SC Villa is still four points behind leaders BUL FC in fourth place with 45 points, but the Jogoos still have a game in hand.
Conversely, KCCA FC advances to sixth position with 42 points.
